Butterfly In The Wind
-Author Unknown
A child is........
A butterfly in the wind,
Some can fly higher than others;
but each one flies the best it can.
Why compare one against the other?
Each one is different!
Each one is special!
Each one is beautiful!
Please stay in contact via email. My new email will be mquinn.teach@gmail.com.
Have a wonderful summer.

This is it! My final weekly update. What a great year it has been. Thank you all for sharing your wonderful children with me and for your ongoing spirit of teamwork. The task you have taken on of being a primary partner in your child's education is not easy but the benefits will last forever. Be sure to do something nice for yourself this summer because you did it! You made it through the school year. I could not have asked for a more special group of parents and children to share in my final year at KCS and on Maui.
This week all students in grades K-4 will report to St. Theresa's on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 12. There will be NO afternoon class. On Tuesday we will rehearse for our exhibition and will play math games made by the 5th and 6th grade students. Please be sure to pack your child a lunch. Also, have them bring the instrument they made if it is still around the house. On Thursday we will perform and all are welcome. The performance will begin between 9:20 and 9:30 and will last no longer than a half hour. We will then share memory books. Please make sure your child brings it with updated work samples and the reflections sent home to be completed last week. We will read one final book together and have some play time prior to sharing a meal together. KCS will provide pizza for students and family members. Parents please bring drinks for your family and feel free to bring a side salad, fruit, vegtable or a dessert to share.
Conferences will take place the week of May 30th. I have face to face conferences scheduled for May 31st (St Theresa's) and June 3rd (Lipoa). If you have not yet scheduled a conference and would like to meet pleae email me ASAP. Phone conferences will work as well and I will be making these calls on Thursday, June 2nd. If you prefer a phone conference please email me your contact number and the best time of the day to reach you.
Mahalo to everyone who has sent in cans. The staff at Hale Kau Kau is very appreciative. It has been a great hands on project for the students. We are just below 200. We will continue to accept donations this week. Please help us to reach our goal of 250 canned goods.
We will end the year on June 7th with a Potluck Gathering at Giggle Hill in Haiku. I will post exact times later this week. Final grades will be calculated and report cards will be completed on June 10th. Report cards will be submitted to the KCS office and will be sent out to families the week of June 13th.
Have a great week and as always please call or email if you have questions, concerns or need support.
